Having worked with Dave for a number of years it was an easy choice to reconnect and help create EA First, given that he exemplifies what is at the heart of my NED choices.
EA First has been set up with the candidate and client offering at the heart of its business. It's a consultancy that offers exactly that, a refreshing change from KPI's, numbers to hit and shareholders to keep content, which have clouded many recruiters ability to deliver "what's best for both Candidate and Client".
Initially I started my working life as an accountant and quickly wanted to see the sharp end of business. Recruitment seemed the natural career choice.
I started with Michael Page Finance in 1992 as a consultant in Bristol. Over a 25 year career, I became Managing Director in 2006 then Senior Managing Director for Michael Page Finance and Consultancy for the U.K. in 2014. Having full P&L responsibility, opening 7 offices and managing more, developing the Page Personal brand in the North and Midlands, starting Michael Page Legal and growing the Page Executive brand has given me a diverse and varied skill set. I have to say though, not everything went to plan but those times were when I learned the most.
The journey with Michael Page allowed me to work with some great support staff, consultants, managers and directors, to which I'm eternally grateful, and still mentor a number of them.
At the heart of any well run business isn't a lot of marketing initiatives, accolades and desire to spend time working out what's internally wrong, but an open culture, candidness and a set of ears that work!
EA First has all of these in abundance, my role will be to make sure these remain true, support the management team, innovate, and create a clear strategy that keeps the values of the business at its heart with every candidate and client centre stage.
