  • The key purpose of the job will be to manage to the day to day operations of the finance team with specific regard to ensuring the finance function is fit for purpose in a rapidly growing business. Initial key priorities will include reviewing processes and controls to implement a robust control framework as well as being a key member of the implementation team for a new ERP.
    The Financial Controller will work closely with the Commercial Manager to review processes both within finance and across the rest of the company to find efficiencies and maximise income generating opportunities.
    Responsibilities:
    • Day to day management of the finance team circa 12 people including mentoring and coaching to enhance skills across the team
    • Be a key contributor to the month end process to ensure efficient and correct reporting
    • Lead the year end process ensuring timely production of statutory accounts and company accounts for Group
    • Develop cash management practices to optimise the management of working capital for the company
    • Work closely with the Finance Director to develop management information systems to enable all to understand commercial and financial drivers of the business
    • Introduce a control framework for each of the key finance processes
    • Become a key member of the team to implement IFS, a new ERP system
    • Lead the financial integration of any new business into the existing company ensuring continuity of reporting and efficient assimilation into the company processes
    • Be a key contributor to continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities across the company
    • Ensure consistency and accurate entry across the company of all data that impacts accounts
    • Partner closely with non-Finance areas of the business to provide consistent information and maximise operations
    • Deputise for the Finance Director assisting with tasks as they occur

  • Experience:
    • Proven post qualification experience essential
    • Previous experience of managing a team is essential
    • Previous experience in a senior finance role desirable
    • Previous experience of ERP implementation would be a distinct advantage

  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Exceptional knowledge of systems and controls
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge
    • The ability to work effectively under pressure, managing conflicting priorities and to meet challenging deadlines
    • Strong leadership skills to motivate and inspire the finance team
    • A progressive team mentality

  • Qualifications
    ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification from a top 10 accounting firm is essential
