To lead, manage, support and mentor the Group finance team and to be accountable for all relevant policies and procedures. Challenge the status-quo and encourage the team to adopt a culture of continual improvement and empower them to excel in all aspects of departmental responsibility. Provide the wider business and management teams with timely, accurate, considered, and trustworthy information to aid in decision making and long-term planning at the Group level.

Reporting Relationships:

Finance Director

Key Accountabilities:

  • Line management and leadership of the Group Finance team
  • Ensure the timely provision of Group financial and statistical reports for management, including responsibility for the monthly consolidation of Group performance to include full P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and revenue reports.
  • Take the lead on budget, forecast and long-term planning activities, working with Business Unit finance leads to ensure adherence to agreed deadlines, and application of an appropriate level of scrutiny
  • Ownership of all external reporting including, but not limited to, annual plc reporting and statutory entity accounts
  • Liaison and collaboration with Business Unit finance leads to ensure the ongoing development of consolidation and reporting processes, to improve the accuracy and integrity of published results and forecasts
  • Execution and ownership of the Group treasury strategy
  • Group cashflow forecasting including FX analysis to support hedging strategies
  • Oversight of the Group transfer pricing strategy, transactional processes and reconciliations
  • Contract reviews and ownership of any resulting technical accounting considerations
  • Responsibility for Group payroll and commercial insurance management
  • All taxation demands on the Group - including direct, indirect and strategy
  • Group Audit support
  • Mentor and support the wider finance team
  • Deputise for Finance Director
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required

Key challenges:

  • Working closely with the business to ensure inputs to plans are realistic and trustworthy and that managers are held accountable
  • Managing a fluctuating workload, taking into consideration times of the year that may be busier than others and planning timetables appropriately to meet some difficult and important deadlines
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Proactively reviewing the regulatory and macro-economic environment to ensure the Group constantly remains compliant and well-informed of important developments
  • Keeping a "finger on the pulse" in the various areas of the business to ensure all output from the department is viewed in context and in consideration of challenges and opportunities

Experience required:

  • Fully Qualified Accountant
  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced finance/accounting role
  • Experience of working with ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Previous experience in a financial management role within a manufacturing/complex operations environment
  • Plc background (desirable)
  • Annual reporting experience for a plc (desirable) or other large companies

A salary of £90,000 - £100,000 + car allowance and a competetive benefits package
