I am working with global technology organisation who are leaders in wireless communication in Industrial, automotive, and consumer markets.


This business is looking for a talented IT Specialist to join their global multi-site It team. The role will be based predominantly in the office in the south of Cambridge with some occasional travel to other sites.


You will join a team that supports the IT infrastructure across the organisations sites that covers 11 countries. Directly supporting and developing the core IT infrastructure whilst also improving the systems and processes across all sites.
you will also be required to support your local site in South Cambridge under the direction of other remote teams when local direct support is required.

Your Responsibilities:
Support in the following areas:

  • Day to day hardware and software troubleshooting, including any necessary hardware servicing as and when required.
  • Ensuring individual users' data is kept secure and confidential.
  • Ensure all hardware and software license agreements are fulfilled.
  • Ensuring reasonable precautions are taken to guard against data loss or corruption, through damage to hardware or viruses.
  • Ensure all necessary sites' infrastructure maintenance contracts are in place
  • Ensure alignment of all IT activities with other sites and existing IT processes, Policies, Standards and Conventions.
  • Ensure, with cooperation to the company's asset management team, software tools and OSs on sites' systems and servers are up to date.


To have an understanding of associated IT topics in order to support other teams:

  • LAN management, VPN, ISP and day to day network administration tasks.
  • Set up accounts and workstations on-site and remote locations.
  • Periodic updates of windows and network security updates, Anti-virus updates etc.
  • Infrastructure configurations of Vmware, Voip, storage and backup systems.
  • Collaborate with and support the other members of the IT Team around the world with the challenges they face day to day.
  • Creation and maintenance of IT related documentation for all systems.
  • End user 2nd line support (both locally and in remote offices) through a ticketing system, often challenging because of the highly technical R&D activities undertaken on the sites being supported, and the systems they use.
  • Manage purchasing for IT-related items and coordinate with external suppliers.
  • Liaise with senior management regarding the budget and plan future IT expenditure.



Your Skills and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of general IT subject areas with significant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of using and administering Linux is a plus to this role.
  • Experience in operating Windows servers (both physical and virtual)
  • Experience of using virtual environments, VMware.
  • Experience in the operation of the backup and off-site backup/disaster recovery systems, Veeam and Dell datadomain a plus
  • Good analytical, problem solving and time management skills
  • Willingness and readiness to travel from time to time (within Europe or globally)


Good team player attitude and necessary inter-personnel skills to provide a good internal customer service having excellent communication skills
