The key responsibilities of the Automation Maintenance Engineer Shift Manager based in Coalville with be as follows.

  • Foster a safety-conscious environment on the site by identifying potential risks within the automation area and setting a leading example.
  • Conduct trend analysis and generate reports and dashboards to assist the senior operational team.
  • Evaluate and incorporate automation systems effectively.
  • Manage the relationship between with third-party engineering team working on-site.
  • Proactively conduct root cause analysis on automation incidents, offering comprehensive analysis and effective measures to prevent their recurrence.
  • Assist in auditing site performance and challenging existing maintenance engineering strategies to ensure maximum value is upheld.
  • Collaborate with the operational flow control team to develop contingency and disaster recovery plans and documentation.
  • Achieve key performance and availability indicators. Support operational planning related to the system and building work flow.
  • Work closely with the IT department to ensure seamless integration of systems and maintain ongoing performance.
  • Promote a culture of Continuous Improvement within the broader operational team.
  • Assist in implementing Continuous Improvement opportunities and provide performance feedback.
  • Review End of Shift Reports (EOS), investigate fault details, and explore potential preventive measures.
  • Maintain all engineering-related documentation, including Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Provide automation-specific training to front line colleagues and maintain relevant documentation in support of the on-site training team.

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following experience, skill set and qualifications.

  • Automation experience within a similar role.
  • Excellent problem-solving and leadership qualities.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to change.
  • Planning and organisational skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication at all levels of the plant.
  • Understanding of Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic technical manuals & drawings.
  • Proactive and holistic mindset.
  • Experience in Automation Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Operations.
  • Level 3 in an Engineering subject.
  • IOSH managing safely.
