My client are a leading manufacturer and distributor of technical work wear, who are looking for a Business Development Manager to join their team within Birmingham.
The key responsibilities of the Business Development Manager based out of Birmingham are including but not limited to the following.
- Achieve agreed-upon new business sales targets and gross margin percentages as outlined in the company sales strategy.
- Prospect for potential new clients by building and maintaining a sales pipeline, tendering, and pre qualifying opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to contribute to social media content creation and ensure that the Group and brand web page is regularly reviewed and updated as needed.
- Identify potential clients and key decision makers within targeted organisations.
- Research and establish new relationships with potential clients directly and through marketing and PR efforts.
- Develop Unique Selling Points by maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the market, services, and solutions offered by the company.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of competitor activities.
- Stay informed on market trends to develop new services and products for both existing and potential clients.
- Submit monthly sales activity reports.
- Communicate and meet regularly with all key business stakeholders.
- Prepare pre qualifying documents, RFIs, and full tender responses.
- Prepare tailored presentations for potential clients.
- Maintain and update the tender library, including accurate version control of all key company documents and policies.
- Ensure any potential new client meets agreed commercial targets.
- Perform any additional tasks or duties requested by management.
The successful candidate of the Business Development Manager based in Birmingham will have the following experience, skill set and characteristics.
- High level of interpersonal skills
- Proven sales track record
- Strong sales negotiator
- Good project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of organisational and time management skills
- High degree of working flexibility
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Good knowledge of the textile or garment industry

- Previous experience in the corporate clothing sector is beneficial but not essential
- Strong commercial awareness
- Higher Education Qualification in Business, Marketing, Digital Marketing, or Sales is preferable, but candidates with relevant skills and experience will also be considered
