My client are a rapidly growing third party logistics provider based in Birmingham.

They're looking for a Carrier Procurement Manager to take ownership of their carrier management strategy.

My client are a rapidly growing third party logistics provider based in Birmingham who are on the search for a Carrier Procurement Manager.

As Carrier Procurement Manager you'll be responsible for sourcing European and UK road freight logistics services from a wide range of carriers to deliver a variety of services on behalf of clients across multiple sectors.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Monthly Business Reviews with carrier partners, along with direct liaison with carrier partners to report and resolve issues
  • Claims process for non compliance in line with SLA's and contracts for each carrier
  • Reviewing the customer journey options with carriers and the wider business to improve communication and reduce customer contact
  • Working with the wider Logistics team on all projects and CI activity, owning all carrier objectives.
  • Managing and developing the Carrier claims team
  • Managing and developing process improvements to optimise carrier compliance and claims
  • Investigating new Carrier Service opportunities and negotiation of contracts
  • Providing analysis and reporting of carriers performance and adherence , assessing contracts
  • Undertaking ad-hoc analysis of performance.
  • Analysing returns journey and present improvement recommendations.
  • Reviewing and signing off of Carrier invoices weekly and monthly.
  • Investigating carrier surcharges and working with the internal teams to mitigate
  • Reviewing of existing carrier services, and opportunities for cost savings and service enhancements and preparation of proposals for review
  • Being in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring that plans and forecasts are managed with carriers to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved.

The succesful candidate will have the following experience:

  • Previous experience of procuring carrier services from a wide range of UK & EU carrier providers
  • Strong commercial / procurement experience with the ability to understand and breakdown pricing to negotiate the most competitive, profitable solutions
  • Prior experience of managing carrier performance would also be highly advantageous, as would a good understanding of the various vehicle types and load pricing mechanisms used by 3rd party carriers
  • Analytical mind set, good with large volumes of data and being able to use it to make data driven decisions
  • Outstanding communicator across all levels of a business, both internally and externally to suppliers and customers
  • Be local to Birmingham

£65,000 + Car, Bonus, Private Pension and Holidays
