We are supporting a Not-for-Profit in Northamptonshire to recruit a Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is already a people manager of a central team within the Charity or Academy Trust sector. Paying £70,000 - £80,000 plus a very attractive benefits package.
Our Northamptonshire client currently has circa 30 schools within the Trust. They support c20k pupils with over 2000 employees. This organisation values a team-focused environment offering to all their pupils and staff the best platform possible to be successful. Their offices are close to local transport links and offer parking on-site.
Financial Controller:
- Oversee the financial management for the Trust.
- Management of the central finance team, inclusive of payroll.
- Prepare the statutory annual accounts.
- Complete VAT, HMRC and ESFA returns.
- Ensure the monthly management accounts are timely, accurate and reviewed.
- Produce monthly cash-flow forecasts, monitoring cash and investment returns.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll, inclusive of compliance requirements to HMRC.
- Lead with the annual budget.
- Oversee the fixed asset register.
- Assist the CFO to develop the financial strategy.
- Ensure the Trust is aligned to the Academy Trust Handbook and other related regulations.
- Lead with the external audit.
- Provide financial input to IT, Estates and Capital projects.
- Implement new financial processes and procedures to improve efficiency.
- Review the finance software and systems.
- Manage contacts with external suppliers.
Financial Controller:
- You must hold a full CCAB or CGMA/CIMA qualification.
- At least 5 years experience overseeing a finance function within the Not-for-Profit sector.
- Knowledge or previous oversight of payroll.
- Previous experience leading the external audit.
- Ability to evidence involvement with financial strategy, budgeting and financial appraisals.
- You must have experience preparing statutory accounts.
- Proven experience monitoring cash flow and investments.
- Ability to commute 2-3 days per week into the Northamptonshire office.
- Ideally you will have a good understanding of the Academy Trust Handbook.
- Ability to deputise for the CFO where required.
Financial Controller:
£70,000 - £80,000.
