My client is seeking a highly analytical, energetic, and tech-savvy Head of Automation to create, develop and manage the customer network with a focus on implementing innovative and efficient automation solutions.

The role will require working closely with cross-functional teams to develop, implement and maintain automated logistics systems to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall customer experience.

  • As Head of Automation you will develop and execute automation strategies for Logistics operations to achieve operational excellence and meet the needs of customers.
  • Lead and manage the implementation of automation processes for Logistics, including automated material handling equipment, robotics, and autonomous vehicles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, Engineering and Operations to ensure alignment of automation solutions with overall company strategy
  • Support new business solutions design, ensuring world class solutions are enabled through the latest automation and digital technologies.
  • Work with the Operational team to implement and continually improve standards through automation and digital technologies, ensuring standardised solutions are leading edge and drive continuous customer and employee value.

  • Evaluate new technologies, equipment, and system integrators, verify vendor capability and compatibility with technical requirements.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on key performance metrics to track the success of automation initiatives and identify any opportunities for improvement.
  • Responsible for personnel development, hiring and retention for the Automation team.
  • Lead and manage automation support team to implement and maintain automation solutions in a timely manner.

  • Strong experience in delivering best in class automation solutions such as: AMR, AGV's, Co-Bots, Follow and fetch robotics, ASRS, Automated Packing solutions.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Logistics, Supply Chain experience and at least 5 years of automation project management experience.
  • Experience of working with an automation integrator - advantageous.
  • Certified Black Belt 6 sigma - advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing successful automation strategies in a logistics environment.
  • Strong leadership, project management and change management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems, automation, and material handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety and security protocols for automated equipment and systems.
