We are currently supporting a Not-for-Profit on an exclusive basis to recruit a Head of Financial Accounting. This role is a remote position, with requirement to travel on an adhoc basis to their main offices across the UK.

This charity delivers a life-changing service and has been in existence for over 100 years.

Head of Financial Accounting:

  • Oversee all financial transactions for the organisation, leading the team and ensuring all transactions are efficiently and effectively carried out on a timely basis.
  • Improve and implement financial controls and processes, ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Lead on the payroll function ensuring that all staff get paid correctly and on time, appropriate deductions for taxation and pensions contributions are made and paid over and statutory documents are produced on time.
  • Responsible for delivering high quality financial and statutory accounts (in line with charity SORP), ensuring internal controls are adequate.
  • Ensure all income is collected.
  • Oversee cash management and cashflow.
  • Lead on purchase to pay and expenses.
  • Be the main point of contact for the external auditors.
  • Build effective working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Complete all regulatory returns in a timely manner.
  • Report directly into the Director of Finance.
  • Line manage the Payroll Manager and Financial Accounting Manager, indirectly overseeing their teams.

Head of Financial Accounting:

  • CCAB qualified or equivalent.
  • People management experience is critical.
  • It is essential you can evidence producing statutory accounts in line with charity regulations.
  • It is important you have managed a transactional and payroll service.
  • An ability to liaise with senior management and be part of the SLT is critical.
  • System implementation experience is desirable.
  • Prior experience leading on the external audit is essential.
  • The completion of government annual returns is desirable.

£51,000 - £59,000

Remote contract

Occasional travel to UK offices

35 hour week

30 days annual leave, plus public holidays
