My client is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team based in Swindon. The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimising all aspects of the operational processes, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of our logistics services. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

My client are a Global 3PL Provider.

The key responsibilities of the Operations Manager based in Swindon are including but not limited to the following.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the operations team, including supervisors and front line staff, to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track operational performance and take proactive measures to address any issues or deviations from targets.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their logistics needs, address concerns, and develop customised solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Optimise resource allocation, including manpower, equipment, and facilities, to meet operational demands and maximise productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and safety protocols to maintain a safe and secure working environment for employees and assets.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, subcontractors, and service providers to ensure alignment with operational objectives and quality standards.
  • Lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement in operational processes, technologies, and systems to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets.
  • Prepare regular reports and analysis on operational performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.

The successful candidate of the Operations Manager based in Swindon will have the following experience, skills and characteristics.

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the logistics or supply chain industry, preferably in a 3PL environment.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and drive results.
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and process optimisation.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and systems, such as WMS (Warehouse Management System) and TMS (Transportation Management System).
  • Solid understanding of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
