  • Opportunity to join a Global 3PL Provider based in Leicester.
  • Fully onsite Nights position working any 5 from 7 including weekends - 8pm - 5am.
  • Excellent opportunity to progress and develop into a General Management role.

Global 3PL Provider based in Leicester.

The Senior Operations Manager - Nights will be responsible managing teams to ensure efficient and smooth product flow through the outbound processes of an automated distribution centre. You'll have direct reports of Warehouse Shift Managers and indirect reports of Supervisors and Team Leaders.

Working closely with the Operations Director and head-office operations team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Recruitment and management of an operating team of approx 200+.
  • Management of the training plans and progression of the team through performance management and regular communication.
  • Ensuring the operation exceeds the required levels of stock availability and is delivering against agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI), for example productivity.
  • Management of resources such as labour cost, overtime and agency usage.
  • Ensuring systems and procedures are enforced and followed on site.
  • Drive a high-performance culture, enabling your team to outperform against the plan by swiftly dealing with performance issues.
  • Identification, development, and coordination of Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Awareness of the performance of the equipment and operations.
  • Development, critique and presentation of proposals and reports, with supporting business cases.
  • Daily liaison with other teams within wider operations set up to understand operational needs.
  • Reporting and communicating of status, performance, and availability of the site, in both manual and automated areas.

  • 5 years+ Operations Management experience within 3PL, FMCG, Food or Retail.
  • Experience of managing start up operations would be advantageous.
  • Prior experience of working within an automated site would be advantageous.
  • Ideally educated to degree level with a background in logistics or supply chain.
  • Able to demonstrate a track record of idea creation and implementing change.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and understanding of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to senior leadership.
  • A strong team player, actively leads, develops, and supports team members.
  • Comfortable challenging with strong influencing and engagement skills - able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style.
  • A dynamic and determined individual, highly driven, committed and results-orientated with significant pace, energy, and confidence. Able to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with strategic vision.
  • Resilient and enthusiastic, an individual able to deliver results under pressure, whilst responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs.

£75,000 - £80,000 + benefits.

Monday to Friday whilst in training working 8am to 5pm, then moving to the 8pm to 5am role working 5 days out of 7 including weekends.
