Leading 3PL Provider based in the West Midlands.

I'm looking for two highly analytical and detail-oriented individuals to join my client's team as a Logistics Solutions Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient and effective logistics solutions for our organisation. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyse, optimise, and improve our logistics operations, ultimately ensuring a seamless and cost-effective flow of materials, products, and information throughout our supply chain.

Key responsibilities include:

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including supply chain, operations, procurement, and transportation teams, to gather requirements and enable the design of effective logistics solutions.
  • Analyse data and conduct thorough research to identify areas of improvement in logistics operations, including warehouse layout, transportation routes, materials handling equipment, and inventory management.
  • Undertake Solutions Design assignments which include; scoping, data requirements, warehouse modelling, transport modelling, scenario testing and user interface design / model testing.
  • Utilise modelling and simulation tools to evaluate different logistics scenarios, considering factors such as cost, capacity, service level, and resource utilisation.
  • Develop and present detailed logistics solution proposals, including technical specifications, project time-lines, cost estimates, and expected outcomes, to key stakeholders and senior management.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for logistics processes, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to create and enhance logistics optimisation algorithms and tools.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving logistics efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of implemented logistics solutions, making adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in the logistics field, and actively seek new ways to improve efficiency and competitiveness.

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations, with a focus on designing and implementing logistics solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Proficiency in using modelling and simulation tools, such as AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to various operational sites.

£60,000 - £65,000 + benefits
