My client is one of the worlds leading logistics companies, who are looking for a Warehouse FLM to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent

The responsibilities of the Warehouse FLM in Stoke-on-Trent would be as followed:

As a warehouse FLM in our cutting-edge heavily automated warehouse facility, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimising daily operations while leading a team of up to 20 staff members on each shift. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the seamless integration of human and automated processes to achieve peak performance, productivity, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Lead, guide, and motivate a team of up to 20 staff members on each shift. Foster a positive and cohesive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and a strong work ethic among team members.

  2. Operational Efficiency: Monitor and manage all warehouse activities, ensuring that the automated systems function effectively, and operational procedures are executed efficiently. Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.

  3. Safety Compliance: Uphold and enforce strict safety standards to protect both employees and equipment. Conduct regular safety briefings, inspections, and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations.

  4. Training and Development: Provide training to new team members, ensuring they are familiar with the warehouse's automated systems and safety protocols. Implement ongoing training and development programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of existing staff.

  5. Performance Management: Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to team members. Address performance issues promptly and fairly, recognizing and rewarding exceptional performance.

  6. Resource Allocation: Manage staff scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage to meet operational demands. Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient resource allocation, inventory control, and order fulfillment.

  7. Technical Support: Collaborate with maintenance and technical teams to address any automation issues promptly. Coordinate preventative maintenance activities to minimize system downtime.

  8. Data Analysis: Utilise data from the automated systems to monitor performance metrics, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimise warehouse processes continually.

  9. Communication: Maintain effective communication channels with other managers, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to share information, resolve issues, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate for the role of the warehouse FLM in Stoke-on-Trent would have the following:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or first line management role in a warehouse or distribution centre environment.
  • Familiarity with automated warehouse systems and processes.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in using data analysis tools to drive process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A salary of £29,5000 p/a.
  • A work schedule of any 5 out of 7, working both days and nights.
  • 25 days holiday + 8 days bank holidays.
